You Are Loved

When I was 6 years old I had my first ride in a commercial airplane. Having a Dad who was passionate about aircraft, I was certainly well prepared for a good experience. I remember loving it all, the take-off, the landing, and everything in between!

I especially LOVED being up in the clouds. I felt like a real live Care Bear (which was quite the popular toy and Saturday morning cartoon at the time). While flying among the clouds, it sure seemed like the white puffs would serve as a very comfortable bed high up in the sky. For this first grade imagination, riding in the sky on a cloud bed seemed like it would be amazing!!

As grown-ups, we don’t often look up to the skies much anymore.

Unless it’s the 4th of July, most of us are busy looking down at our phones. Waiting in line, we look down at our phones. Couples on dates at restaurants look down at their phones. Teens gathered at sporting events all look down at their phones.

These handheld devices have imprisoned us and have created quite a widespread pandemic of distraction.

But, nothing beats looking up! ☁️

Staying alert to what (and who) is right in front of you, is an intentional gift. Being present with those who share your journey, and helping someone feel seen because you are literally seeing them (versus scrolling on your phone), is an important and often missing piece in our relationships.

Being available to notice the wonder that is right in front of you is life-changing. You may even experience something photo-worthy, like this heart-shaped cloud that was passing right by.

The shapes of clouds are always changing, so this fleeting find brought me enormous amounts of joy! 🤍

I find that it’s in these moments of wonder that I also receive whispers from God, gently saying…

“You are loved.”

Because you ARE.

“For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

– Romans 8:38

Lift your head and receive the love that is waiting for you!
